ESPN x WNBA All-Star Game
ESPN had two major moments happening in Chicago at the same time: WNBA All-Star and the premiere of Life in the W. They wanted to connect the two with an activation that could represent both the energy around the weekend and the city hosting it.
To do that, we flew a drone show over Navy Pier, a location that made sense for both the audience and the broadcast. Navy Pier draws a steady flow of visitors on summer nights, giving the show exposure to people who were already out enjoying the city, along with fans who had come to Chicago for All-Star weekend.
The formations incorporated Chicago iconography, including the four red stars from the city's flag and a rendering of the skyline. The creative was designed to recognize the city while tying back to ESPN, the WNBA, and the weekend's broader programming.
To bring the activation beyond the sky, we also took over Navy Pier's Centennial Wheel, lighting it in ESPN red and placing the ESPN logo at its center. The first-of-its-kind execution connected the drone show to one of Chicago's most recognizable waterfront landmarks, making the pier itself part of the creative.

ESPN featured the drone show on the national broadcast of the WNBA All-Star Game, extending its reach to viewers across the country. That broadcast exposure was an important part of the activation, connecting the live experience in Chicago with the national audience watching the game. It brought together the physical presence of a major public installation and the reach of one of the weekend's biggest televised moments.
